How to build it (example: “Ben …”)

1. Goal: Say "I eat" in Turkish.
2. Pieces: stem ye + aorist ending r + im
3. Result: ye + rim → yerim

Aorist (simple present)

Use this for habits, general facts, and “I do X” statements.

Present continuous (-iyor)

Use this for actions happening now (“I am …-ing”).

Examples

• Ben her gün evde yerim. — I eat at home every day.
• Şimdi ekmek yiyorum. — I’m eating bread now.
• Onlar dışarıda yerler. — They eat out.

Common uses

‘yemek’ is both the verb ‘to eat’ and the noun ‘food / a meal’ depending on context.

• kahvaltı etmek (to have breakfast)
